FORMATION OF ABSTRACT ALPHABET SIGNS

1. First notes emerged between 1987 and 1989 as separate sketches in copy-books or on small pieces of paper. Simultaneous handwriting started to form into specific signs.

2. Abstract lines and scribbles began to take the shape of signs composed of: circle, square, triangle, as well as horizontal and vertical lines. Such signs appeared also on my paintings. In the process of putting down, whether on canvas or on paper, they were specified, closed and formulated. They changed into writing.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE ABSTRACT ALPHABET

The next stage was setting those signs in print version (1991-1993). They were put in two kinds of typeface: seriffed and non-seriffed. The letters were drawn or put together from known letters, and then photocopied (zeroxed).

The zerox technique enabled using letters of various shape and size (computers were not so commonly used then).
